Borgmanin talo

Borgmanin talo

Pikkuympyräkatu 19

Tontti on yleisilmeeltään säilynyt varsin samankaltaisena parin vuosisadan ajan. Sillä sijainneet rakennukset paloivat ilmeisesti vuosien 1821 ja 1840 suurpaloissa, mutta tämän tontin rakennukset säästyivät vuoden 1887 suurpalolta.

Tontin omisti vuonna 1790 venäläistä sukua oleva porvari Vasili Kiselev (Kiseleff), joka omisti myös tiiliruukin Mullinkosken liepeiltä. Tontin toisen osan omisti esikuntakirurgi Griinin (Gryn) leski. Vuosina 1832–1872 tontilla asui mm. puuseppämestari Anders Borgman perheineen. Tontti joutui kaupunginvouti Esaias Niemelän (1810–1886) haltuun vuonna 1872 ja myöhemmin tontin peri tämän poika agronomi, talousneuvos Esaias Evert Niemelä (1873-1951). 1982 tontti palasi jälleen saman suvun haltuun, sillä nykyisen omistajaperheen rouva on em. suvun suora jälkeläinen. (Esaias: isoukki, Esaias Evert: ukki)

Nykyinen päärakennus on vuodelta 1848.

"Borgman house"

Pikkuympyräkatu 19

The overall appearance of the property has remained quite similar for the past couple of centuries. The buildings on the plot were apparently destroyed in the great fires of 1821 and 1840, but the subsequent buildings on this part of the plot survived the great fire of 1887.

In 1790, the property was owned by the business man Vasili Kiselev (Kiseleff), who was of Russian origin. He owned, among other things, a brickyard near Mullinkoski. The other part of the plot was owned by the headquarters surgeon’s widow Griin (Gryn). Between 1832-1872, the property was occupied e.g. by the master carpenter Anders Borgman and his family. The plot was acquired by the town bailiff Esaias Niemelä (1810-1886) in 1872, and later the plot of land was inherited by his son Esaias Evert Niemelä (1873-1951). In 1982 the plot returned to the ownership of the same family, as one of the current owners is a direct descendant of the family (Esaias: great-grandfather, Esaias Evert: grandfather).

The present main building dates from 1848. Located on the plot is also a vaulted cellar from the 18th century. Several changes have been made both to the main building and annex buildings over the years; as an example, the places of windows and doors in the main building have been changed.

The building preceding the current main building was built in 1822 and destroyed in the great fire of 1840. That building painted with green oil paint comprised a porch, one larger and one smaller room, five bedrooms, two kitchens and a storage room. Each window frame was fitted with four windows, and the house had four chimneys. The plot also encompassed an outbuilding built in 1824, and a cellar, bakery room, stables, woodshed, shed, barn, tool shed and latrine.
